HEAlTH NOTES
Please continue to keep students home when ill - Students must be diarrhea, vomiting, fever free (below 100.0 without medication) for 24 hours before returning to school. A bad cough could indicate the need to stay home and possibly see a doctor, as it could be a more serious condition than just allergies or a cold. If your student has a mild cough and/ or runny nose but otherwise feels well, they should be fine for school. A minor sore throat is usually not a concern, but if accompanied by fever, stomachache or headache, could indicate strep throat. Keep home if strep is suspected until evaluated by their doctor. If diagnosis is positive for strep the student may return to school after they have been on antibiotics 24 hours and they are feeling well enough. Ear aches and rashes need to be evaluated by your physician. If your're not sure if your student should stay home from school you should always call your physician's office for advice.
Students may bring in their own cough drops to school. Tissues, hand sanitizer and cough drops can be stored in the students lockers, don't forget your personal hygiene products. Students may be asked to wear a mask if they are coughing. We are following the recommendations of the CDC.
HAND WASHING IS STILL THE BEST DEFENSE WE HAVE!
PLEASE NOTE: if your student is injured, has had surgery and may require a wheelchair or temporary accommodations, please call the Health Office and speak to one of the nurses. We have many solutions to help keep the students safe and in school. Give us a Call!
All medications must be picked up by June 30, 2012. Please call ahead so we can have them ready and that we are available in the office. All medications left in the Health Office will be destroyed as per State of CT regulations.
